Mazine.ws is officially attending the conference in Bali, we will bring you our views on the subject and our impressions based on that what we hear and what gossip says.
World climate business is going mainstream, sidelining good old Californian hippies, the green parties, the local groups and the aging activist no one was listening to for so much years of environmental mantras. By now the pioneers are running on crooks and the new wave of eco-pros spills into hundreds of projects worldwide. They are agitating in the existing climate related fields, forest, food, transport, oil, nuclear or fossil energy, wind, solar, water and carbon exchange. The eco -pros are competing for government funding, which in return hopes to revitalise the western high tech industry. Basically the so called 3rd world developers formally involved in Africa and Asia aid switched to climate mechanics. Yes its also big business where a lot of people make money and there living. Its not anymore just the drop out, they are thousand of researchers, technicians, businessman who try to byte off parts of the climate cash cake.
There are some serious numbers - statistics out there, which are frightening, read IPCC's assessment report which caused all the panic. I still do-not want to believe, but the whole impression of the climate conference is convincing. That we are in trouble, at the moment the newest treat is Soya, because of the context of biofuel, the other is cattle and meat production in context of deforestation and carbon reduction. Deforestation will be the next big theme. Flash back, I just remember the planting of 7000 oaks by Joseph Beuys, starting in Kassel at the Documenta 7 in 1982. I remember the foundation of the green party in Germany, this have been the first anti establishment movements. It took till today, when the subject needed to strike Hollywood and then the Nobelist, to reach awareness and understanding on a wider scale. Now also I care about my carbon print.
The green-parties could not capitalise on there poll position, today the environment agendas are take over by the established parties. In Germany Angela seams more green than any greener from the green party.
DNA pope John Craig Venter says fight the cause= dirty environment not the effect= cancer.
J. Beuys was visionary and a complex artist, a "Gesamtkunstwerk", feeding the art market, being engaged wit the current political and cultural agenda and practising relentlessly that what he was talking about till he burned out. Well what counts is the penetration of the subject and not the sudden change for paying the next bills.
So the issue in climate change is can it become a business case, trespassing funding and subsidiaries. UNFCC
